Torch From Mexico Stops In Kearny


On December 11, 2018, Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Councilmembers Susan McCurrie, Eileen Eckel, Albino Cardoso and Peter Santana joined the Group Civico Poblano De Hudson in celebration of La Carrera Antorcha Guadalupana (The Run of the Guadalupe Torch) which stopped in Kearny at the steps of Town Hall. Runners from different towns and cities took turns bearing the torch, first lit in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, across nine Mexican States and 14 U.S.

Annual Holiday Celebration: North Pole’s Most Popular Resident, Santa Claus Visits Kearny


On Saturday, December 8, 2018 after making his list and checking it twice, Santa made an early visit to town.  After being escorted along Kearny Avenue, Midland Avenue, and Davis Avenue by our Kearny Police and Fire Departments, Santa then made his way on stage at the Lincoln School Auditorium to meet and greet children with candy canes, coloring books, crayons and a gift card.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, during the Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Town Council, Mayor Alberto G. Santos, members of the Town Council and Kearny Police Chief George King held a swearing in ceremony for newly hired police officers of the Kearny Police Department.  Mayor Santos and Chief King addressed the police officers and their family and friends who gathered at Town Hall to witness the administration of the oaths of office and the pinning of the new officers' police badges.  

Town of Kearny Gets Into the Halloween Spirit at the 30th Annual Halloween Parade

The Halloween Parade and Recreation Commission Chairwoman Lyla De Castro Lawdanski announced that Kearny’s annual Halloween parade stepped off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018. The beautiful autumn afternoon was perfect for the ghosts, goblins and superheroes to parade along Kearny Avenue. Prior to the start of the parade, hundreds of costumed children lined up to march in the parade which stepped off on Kearny Avenue at Woodland Avenue, and traveled north past the town hall. 

Health Department Holds Flu Clinic


The Kearny Health Department held its first Flu clinic for the 2018-2019 season. The Flu shots were free and available to Kearny and East Newark residents only. The clinic was held at the Kearny Health Department, 645 Kearny Avenue on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. The clinic was very well attended and the vaccine supply was exhausted in record time in just over two hours.
