Recycling Sections Map

Kearny is divided into three residential and one business district zone for garbage collection and recycling. Regular household garbage is collected twice weekly in the three residential zones and six times weekly in the business district.

Important Topics

Appliances and Metal

Large appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, etc. (sometimes called “white goods”) and other items made of metal are collected by appointment only. Call the Kearny DPW to schedule an appointment.

Bulky Waste

Bulky waste collected in Kearny consists of large items of waste material such as, furniture, mattresses, carpeting and small amounts of debris from home repair projects. The town garbage contractor is not obligated to collect construction from major repair or renovation projects, regardless of whether the work is being done by the property owner or a contractor. In these cases, the property owner should contract with a waste hauler to remove construction debris.
