Kearny, NJ – The Town of Kearny held its Annual Senior Picnic on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Doyle Pavilion River Bank Park from 12:00 Noon until 3:30 pm.
A large crowd turned out to enjoy Kearny’s 4th of July celebration at Veteran’s Field. Families began arriving in the late afternoon, setting up seats in the prime viewing areas to listen to the Garden State Concert Band’s performance and to enjoy the fireworks display.
Mayor Alberto G. Santos announced that exam applications for the civil service position of fire fighter in the Town of Kearny are now available. Residents can obtain an application online at www.state.nj.us/csc.
Fire protection services are provided in the Town of Kearny by a professional fire department operating out of four firehouses. Kearny’s firefighters are also first responders who are required to hold EMT certificates.

The annual Memorial Day Parade took place on Thursday, May 21, 2015, culminating in a ceremony held at the American Legion Post 99 recognizing those who died while in service to our country. The program featured remarks by Parade Grand Marshall Thomas Nash and Mayor Alberto G.

Kearny resident Stephen R. Koziel recently advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor of the Boy Scouts of America. This achievement was the result of many years of scouting activities, which includes earning at least 21 merit badges, leadership positions and an extensive community service project.
