(KEARNY, NJ) – On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the Town of Kearny held its annual Fireworks Celebration at Veteran’s Memorial Field on Belgrove Drive.  Mayor Alberto G. Santos along with Councilmembers Carol Jean Doyle, Susan McCurrie, Marytrine De Castro and Peter Santana joined Kearny residents for the event.  Each year, the July 4th Fireworks Celebration becomes larger and more spectacular....

SNOW STORM ADVISORY – March 7, 2018

  • Due to the State of Emergency, Town of Kearny offices will be closed on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, except for essential services such as public safety personnel and employees involved in snow related functions. 
     
  • There is no Meals-on-Wheels distribution on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.  The Meals-on-Wheels program is expected to be back in service on Thursday, March 8, 2018.
     

Kearny Holds Annual Free Dog and Cat Rabies Clinic

Kearny, NJ –The Kearny Health Department sponsored its annual free Dog and Cat Rabies Clinic on Saturday, February 10, 2018.  The popular clinic was held at the Kearny Water Department Complex and, as in prior years, was well attended.  A total of 379 dogs and 27 cats were vaccinated.  The Kearny Health Department also issued 287 animal licenses (269 dog and 18 cat licenses) at the event.  
 

Town of Kearny Honors Police Chief John Dowie and Extends Farewell during Retirement Ceremony

KEARNY, NJ – The members of the Kearny Police Department and elected officials honored and saluted retiring Police Chief John Dowie for his four decades of service to the Kearny Police Department – the last 19 years as Chief of Police – at an outdoor ceremony held on December 1, 2017 at the front entrance of the KPD Headquarters. 

Kearny Welcomes Newest Firefighters

Kearny, NJ – On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, Kearny Mayor Alberto G. Santos and the Kearny Town Council held a swearing-in ceremony at Town Hall for five newly hired firefighters of the Kearny Fire Department.  Mayor Santos administered the oaths and Kearny Fire Chief Steve Dyl presented each new firefighter his fire badge.  The new firefighters are:  Dylan Schalago, Daniel Madden, Ethan Evanchick, Christopher Vezos, and Matthew Miller.
