(KEARNY, NJ) – On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the Town of Kearny held its annual Fireworks Celebration at Veteran’s Memorial Field on Belgrove Drive. Mayor Alberto G. Santos along with Councilmembers Carol Jean Doyle, Susan McCurrie, Marytrine De Castro and Peter Santana joined Kearny residents for the event. Mayor Santos is pleased to announce that on October 6, Kearny’s Passaic Avenue Revelopment Zone, was designated as a Brownfields Development Area (BDA) by the New Jersey Department of the Environmental Protection qualifying properties for funding of up to $5 million dollars annually for environmental investigation and remediation cleanup.

The Kearny Public Library now has a family pass for the American Museum of Natural History.
Mayor Alberto G. Santos and the Town Council dedicated a Streetscape bench located at 23 Kearny Avenue in memory of Everett Warner, a Kearny resident who was active in the community. He passed away in 2006. A plaque bearing his name and the words, “A Man Who Loved Kearny,” was unveiled at a short ceremony at the location.

TRENTON - Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced that the deadline for New Jersey’s senior and disabled homeowners to file 2008 Homestead Rebate applications has been extended to August 17, 2009. The deadline for filing a 2008 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) application has also been extended to August 17. The original deadline for filing 2008 applications for both programs was June 1, 2009.
