On Sunday, July 24, 2016, the Peruvian Civic Association of New Jersey (PCANJ) celebrated Peruvian Independence with their annual parade. The parade line of march stepped off in Harrison and traveled to Kearny Town Hall while participants exhibited their culture through the use of native costumes, bands, decorative floats, and marchers from many fellow Peruvian Associations. The annual Memorial Day Parade took place on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 7:00 pm. The parade line of march stepped off at Belgrove Drive and Locust Avenue and traveled south on Belgrove Drive, culminating in a ceremony held at the American Legion Post 99 recognizing those who died while in service to our country. The program featured remarks by Parade Grand Marshall Thomas Mernar and Mayor Alberto G. Santos.
Kearny, NJ – On Saturday, May 21, 2016, the first ever Kearny Food Truck Festival was held at the Frank J. Vincent Marina. The event was organized by Kearny PBA Local #21 and President John Fabula and featured food items from 15 food trucks. The PBA organized the event as a fundraiser, since the group is sending 15 police officers to the Tour de Force Bike Ride 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride from the Pentagon in Washington, DC to Ground Zero in New York City this upcoming Sept.
