Kearny Gets Into the Halloween Spirit at the 29th Annual Halloween Parade


Kearny’s annual Halloween parade stepped off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016.  The beautiful autumn afternoon was perfect for the ghosts, goblins and superheroes to parade up Kearny Avenue.  Prior to the start of the parade, hundreds of costumed children lined up to march in the parade.  As is the tradition, Mayor Alberto G.

Town of Kearny Fire Department Hosts Annual Open House


On Saturday, October 8, 2016, the Kearny Fire Department held its annual Open House at the Midland Avenue headquarters.  The event included refreshments, information on fire safety and demonstrations by firefighters. Mayor Alberto Santos and Councilmembers Carol Jean Doyle, Eileen Eckel, Marytrine De Castro, and Richard Konopka attended the open house along with residents, many of them children.

Pathways To Independence Holds Annual Walk-A-Thon


On Saturday, September 24, 2016, Pathways to Independence, Inc. held their Annual Walk-A-Thon at West Hudson Park.  Pathways to Independence provides job skills training and vocational opportunities for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve their fullest potential.  The organization’s facility is located at 60 Kingsland Avenue in Kearny.  Close to 200 individuals gathered at West Hudson Park to take part in the walk.

9/11 Day of Remembrance – The Town of Kearny Memorial Service Honors 9/11 Victims


Our community remembered those who lost their lives on 9/11/01 with an ecumenical service at St. Stephen's Church on Sunday, September 11, at 7 pm.  As we did in the days and months after 9/11, our community came together again in mourning, somber reflection and friendship.  The commemorative service at St. Stephen’s Church began with a candlelit procession at the 9/11 monument and a field of nearly 3,000 American flags arranged by Boy Scout Troop and Pack 305.

Kearny Celebrates Annual National Night Out Against Crime

On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, the Town of Kearny celebrated National Night Out Against Crime, an annual event sponsored by the Kearny Community Policing Unit.  Hundreds of town residents turned out for the event held on Belgrove Drive and Veteran’s Field which featured a wide range of activities for children including a bounce ride, and ice cream and a chance to spray a fire hose at a target. 

Peruvian Civic Association Sponsors West Hudson Peruvian Independence Day Parade


On Sunday, July 24, 2016, the Peruvian Civic Association of New Jersey (PCANJ) celebrated Peruvian Independence with their annual parade.  The parade line of march stepped off in Harrison and traveled to Kearny Town Hall while participants exhibited their culture through the use of native costumes, bands, decorative floats, and marchers from many fellow Peruvian Associations.
