Town of Kearny Gets Into the Halloween Spirit at the 30th Annual Halloween Parade

The Halloween Parade and Recreation Commission Chairwoman Lyla De Castro Lawdanski announced that Kearny’s annual Halloween parade stepped off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018. The beautiful autumn afternoon was perfect for the ghosts, goblins and superheroes to parade along Kearny Avenue. Prior to the start of the parade, hundreds of costumed children lined up to march in the parade which stepped off on Kearny Avenue at Woodland Avenue, and traveled north past the town hall. 

Health Department Holds Flu Clinic

The Kearny Health Department held its first Flu clinic for the 2018-2019 season. The Flu shots were free and available to Kearny and East Newark residents only. The clinic was held at the Kearny Health Department, 645 Kearny Avenue on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. The clinic was very well attended and the vaccine supply was exhausted in record time in just over two hours.

Santos issued a Proclamation recognizing Franklin School for their ongoing Lupus Awareness initiatives and efforts to educate the school community, teachers, students and staff about Lupus and the needs for research funding, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatments that will lead to a cure for this devastating illness that affects so many people.

Peruvian Civic Association Sponsors West Hudson Peruvian Independence Day Parade

On Sunday, July 22, 2018, the Peruvian Civic Association of New Jersey (PCANJ) celebrated Peruvian Independence with their annual parade.  The parade line of march stepped off in Harrison and traveled to Kearny Town Hall while participants exhibited their culture through the use of native costumes, bands, decorative floats, and marchers from many fellow Peruvian Associations.
