Annual Tree Lighting Festival

On Thursday, December 5, 2013, hundreds of families celebrated at the Annual Kearny UEZ Tree Lighting Festival outside Town Hall on Kearny Avenue. The festival has become a very popular town-wide tradition and the kickoff of the holiday season in Kearny. The evening began at 5:30 p.m.

Town of Kearny and North Hudson Community Action Corporation to Co-Host Affordable Health Care Program Workshop

Mayor Alberto G. Santos is pleased to announce that on Saturday, December 14, 2013 the Town of Kearny in cooperation with North Hudson Community Action Corporation (NHCAC) will hold a workshop where trained facilitators will be available to assist Kearny residents who wish to enroll in the federal Healthcare Exchange.  The session will be held in the Kearny Main Library, 318 Kearny Avenue, on the lower level from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

KEARNY, NJ -- Shoppers take your mark!  The 4th Annual Kearny Town-Wide Yard & Sidewalk Sale returns Saturday and Sunday, October 12 & 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  There is no rain date.  Kearny is definitely the place to be that weekend when the town is once again transformed into a border-to-border bargain hunter’s paradise!

Annual Tie a Ribbon Campaign™ Kicks Off in Front of Kearny Town Hall

On Saturday, October 5, 2013, Mayor Alberto Santos and Councilwomen Alexa Arce, Carol Jean Doyle and Susan McCurrie joined members of Mujeres Valientes (Brave Women) in the Susan B. Komen for the Cure® Tie a Ribbon ™ Campaign in front of Kearny Town Hall.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the pink ribbons are meant to send the message that “Mammograms Save Lives.” 

Kearny Police Department Community Police Unit hosts annual “National Night Out Against Crime” program

National Night Out Against Crime, sponsored by the Kearny Community Policing Unit, was held last week on Belgrove Drive and Veteran’s Field. Hundreds of town residents turned out for the event. Representatives from many local groups set up tables to provide health and safety information. Members from the Kearny Fire Department, Police Department and Emergency Squad were present with demonstrations and displays of some of their latest equipment.
