Reported Crimes In Kearny Decrease By 2.5% In 2013 And Reach A New 13-Year Low


The Town of Kearny’s Uniform Crime Report Index for 2013 shows there were 1,286 reported crimes in Kearny in 2013, a drop of 2.5% from the previous year’s number of 1,320.  While the decrease in crime for 2013 was modest, the recently released numbers confirm the significant drops in crime that occurred from 2011 to 2012 when reported crimes fell by 18%.

Annual Tree Lighting Festival


On Thursday, December 5, 2013, hundreds of families celebrated at the Annual Kearny UEZ Tree Lighting Festival outside Town Hall on Kearny Avenue. The festival has become a very popular town-wide tradition and the kickoff of the holiday season in Kearny. The evening began at 5:30 p.m.

Town of Kearny and North Hudson Community Action Corporation to Co-Host Affordable Health Care Program Workshop


Mayor Alberto G. Santos is pleased to announce that on Saturday, December 14, 2013 the Town of Kearny in cooperation with North Hudson Community Action Corporation (NHCAC) will hold a workshop where trained facilitators will be available to assist Kearny residents who wish to enroll in the federal Healthcare Exchange.  The session will be held in the Kearny Main Library, 318 Kearny Avenue, on the lower level from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.
