Mayor Alberto G. Santos and the Town Council dedicated a Streetscape bench located at 23 Kearny Avenue in memory of Everett Warner, a Kearny resident who was active in the community. He passed away in 2006. A plaque bearing his name and the words, “A Man Who Loved Kearny,” was unveiled at a short ceremony at the location.

TRENTON - Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced that the deadline for New Jersey’s senior and disabled homeowners to file 2008 Homestead Rebate applications has been extended to August 17, 2009. The deadline for filing a 2008 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) application has also been extended to August 17. The original deadline for filing 2008 applications for both programs was June 1, 2009.

Kearny, NJ has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry.
Mayor Alberto G. Santos, the Town Council and members of the Recreation Commission formally re-opened the Town’s Futsal Facility on March 31, 2009. The facility, located on Passaic Avenue, was re-surfaced with synthetic turf that was manufactured by Field Turf. The facility measures 25,250 square feet and consists of three practice soccer fields. It is the latest Kearny recreational facility to be updated and modernized.
