Kearny American Legion Post 99 and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Veterans Clothing Closet

On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, Mayor Alberto G. Santos, Town Council Members Carol Jean Doyle, Albino Cardoso and Marytrine De Castro, Deputy Mayor Anthony Capitti, Past Commander of the American Legion Post 99, representatives from Hudson County, and the Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, John Westervelt, held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Grand Opening of the Veterans Clothing Closet located on the upper level of the American Legion Post 99, 314 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ.

At the Veterans Clothing Closet, donated clothing is displayed and made available for no cost to veterans.  This collaboration, among American Legion Post 99 and Catholic Charities, is designed to improve the lives of veterans and assist the people who have sacrificed in service to the nation.

The Veterans Clothing Closet is dedicated to helping veterans build better lives for themselves and their families and promoting independence among veterans by providing professional attire.  The location will also offer a network of support tools to help veterans thrive in work and in life, with the purpose of empowering and inspiring veterans in the community.
