Kearny Celebrates Independence Day

News Date:

A large crowd turned out to enjoy Kearny’s 4th of July celebration at Veteran’s Field.  Families began arriving in the late afternoon, setting up seats in the prime viewing areas to listen to the Garden State Concert Band’s performance and to enjoy the fireworks display.

The early entertainment for children included pony rides, face painting, balloon art, moon walk and home run derby inflatables, and a magic show.  In one of the biggest attractions provided by the Kearny Fire Department, children were instructed how to hose down a cardboard, “burning building” using a real fire hose.

As always, the evening ended with a spectacular fireworks display.  Thousands of people spread out their blankets on bunny hill to enjoy the show.

Much of the entertainment this year was again provided through the generous support from sponsors.  Many thanks to the businesses who contributed to our 4th of July celebration; these sponsors include:  Apruzzese, McDermott, Mastro & Murphy; Cali Carting, Inc.; River Terminal Development Corp.; McManimon, Scotland and Baumann; Castano, Quigley, LLC; Hartz Mountain Industries Inc.; Kearny Bank; Kearny Shop Rite; Neglia Engineering Associates; Provident Bank; Ferraioli, Wielkotz, Cerullo & Cuva PA.; Christmas Spectacular, Inc.; and Kraft & Capizzi, LLC.
