Kearny Sponsors the 25th Annual Passaic River Cleanup

Kearny, NJ - The Town of Kearny held its 25th annual River Cleanup at Riverbank Park in Kearny on Saturday, April 23, 2016.  Organized by 3rd Ward Councilwoman Carol Jean Doyle and co-sponsored by the Passaic Valley River Restoration Group, numerous volunteers showed up at the park’s Frank A. Vincent Marina to help remove litter and debris from the banks of the Passaic River.  Young and old alike joined the effort.  Volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 305, Girl Scout Troop 10648, Pathways to Independence and the Optimist Club joined many local residents on a beautiful spring morning to participate in the annual spring clean-up.  Mayor Alberto G. Santos, Deputy Mayor Anthony Capitti, Councilwoman Marytrine De Castro, Councilman Albino Cardoso, and the Kearny Fire Department and Department of Public Works also helped make this year’s cleanup a successful event.
