Kearny Gets Into the Halloween Spirit at the 29th Annual Halloween Parade

News Date:

Kearny’s annual Halloween parade stepped off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016.  The beautiful autumn afternoon was perfect for the ghosts, goblins and superheroes to parade up Kearny Avenue.  Prior to the start of the parade, hundreds of costumed children lined up to march in the parade.  As is the tradition, Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Council Members Eileen Eckel, Marytrine De Castro, Albino Cardoso, and Jonathan Giordano were in the Halloween spirit, donning costumes and leading off the parade.  The line of march included the Kearny High School Marching Band, Kearny Junior Schools Band and St. Columcille Gaelic Pipe Band.  Floats were created by the Recreation Commission and Kearny Generals Football.  Dance groups from Vision Dance Studio, Art of Dance Studio, and The Next Step School of Dance performed in front of the reviewing stand.  Fire trucks from Kearny and vehicles from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department and the Kearny Police Lead team were all part of the festivities.

As always, the parade ended with the announcement by Mayor Santos of the early arrival of Santa Claus in Kearny.  A great time was had by all!
