HUDSON COUNTY SHERIFF ANNOUNCES “PROJECT LIFESAVER”

Hudson County Sheriff Juan Perez announced the inception of the PROJECT LIFESAVER program which will assist families and caregivers of individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia disorder as well as families of children suffering from Down syndrome, autism, traumatic brain injuries or cognitive disorders.

This project will allow for a proactive response by the sheriff’s office and save precious time if and when a loved one wanders away from home and becomes lost or confused.

The participant in PROJECT LIFESAVER will wear a special wrist bracelet equipped with a small transmitter which emits a signal that law enforcement can track when someone goes missing. Search times have been reduced from days and hours to minutes.

There is no charge for this program. The only cost involved would be for the necessary change of the battery in the transmitter as needed. Any interested parties are asked to contact the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Community Relations Unit at (201) 217-5226 where additional information can be obtained.
