Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting at Kearny Town Hall

Town Hall Park was filled with holiday cheer as hundreds of residents attended Kearny’s annual tree lighting festival on December 4, 2009. In addition to a visit from Santa, the event featured performances by the Kearny High School Wind Ensemble, the Washington School Dream Team, Mater Dei Academy Drama Club, Mater Dei Academy Children's Choir and Stonehenge, a local band. The celebration also included performers representing some of the town’s ethnic heritages such as the Portuguese Folklore Youth Dance Group and bagpipers from The Piper's Cove, a local Scottish business. Members of the Kearny High School ERASE (End Racism and Sexism Everywhere) Club handed out holiday gifts, while the Kearny Salvation Army and Calvary United Methodist Church supplied treats.
