Mayor Santos announces upcoming Civil Service exam for Municipal Police Officer

Mayor Santos would like to inform interested residents that exam applications for the civil service position of police officer in the Town of Kearny are now available. Residents can pick up applications in the Personnel Office at 410 Kearny Avenue or obtain an application online at www.state.nj.us/cscp/public_safety. The application fee is $35.00.

“The Town of Kearny is very proud to have one of the finest police departments in the state. I would like to encourage more of our qualified young men and women to consider a career in police work,” said Mayor Santos.

Eligible applicants must be citizens of the United States as of August 31, 2010. Applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent by
August 31, 2010 and be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Appointees will be required to pass thorough medical, drug and psychological examinations. Appointees will be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

The deadline for filing the application is August 31, 2010. The exam will be scheduled in the Fall 2010.
