Important Information for Families: Local Food Resources
As you may be aware, the recent federal government shutdown has resulted in the halting of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits as of November 1. We understand that this may cause hardship for many of our families, and we want to ensure that you are aware of resources available to help with food assistance and other basic needs. The New Jersey Basic Needs Information Hub provides a comprehensive directory of local food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community services. Families can visit the hub at: https://nj211.org/basic-needs
In addition, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey provides food resources for families in the Kearny area. To locate nearby sites, please visit https://cfbnj.org/findfood and enter 07032 in the search bar located at the top right corner of the page.
If your family is experiencing food insecurity, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Health Department for food resource guidance. The Town of Kearny is committed to helping families access the assistance they need during this time.
