From time to time you will hear the terminology self-quarantine. We may have peopleunder self-quarantine at different times throughout this pandemic. As defined by theCDC, self-quarantine is when a person is believed to have been exposed to acommunicable disease but not yet symptomatic at home or as otherwise determined.Our Health Department supervises this self-quarantine period of 14 days. Public healthsupervision means that the local health department establishes initial contact with theindividual, instructs the person to measure their temperature and assess themselves forrespiratory symptoms daily, and provide instructions for notifying the health departmentif they develop fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.The New Jersey Department of Health reported that we currently have:4 Kearny residents under self-quarantine. For three, the last day of monitoring will be3/15 and one will be on 3/16.
