NOTICE OF INTENT TO RENEW TITLE V PERMIT FOR AO 2021-25
In accordance with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (“NJDEP”) Administrative Order 2021-25, Kearny Generating Station will hold a public information session on 2/5/2023 beginning at 6:00 PM. This public information session is for compliance under Administrative Order 2021-25 regarding the renewal of the facility’s Title V Operating Air Permit. Kearny Generating Station is located on a 92-acre commercial and light industrial site in Kearny, New Jersey. Kearny can generate approximately 465 megawatts (“MW”) of electricity.
Kearny Generating Station has approximately 25 employees and has applied for renewal of its existing Title V Air Permit for another five (5) years, Permit Activity Number BOP190002, Program Interest Number 12200. Kearny Generating Station has not requested any increases in permitted emissions.
Kearny Generating Station is committed to minimizing emissions by operating in a safe, sound, and efficient manner. Kearny Generating Station was originally built as a coal plant in 1925 and Kearny has continued to adapt and change the plant throughout the years as different technologies came about. In addition, Kearny’s operation was changed in 1986 from a base load electric generating facility to a peaking facility. The fuel oil and natural gas simple cycle turbines were placed into service in 2001. The remaining natural gas‐fired simple cycle turbines were placed into service in 2012. Today the facility predominantly fires natural gas to provide electricity to the surrounding communities.

Comments may be made at the meeting or submitted via email to ckeith@camstex.com starting 1/2/2024 and ending after 60 days at 5:00 PM 3/1/2024. Kearny Generating Station will respond to all comments at the end of the comment period, and these responses will be posted on the NJDEP website, as will a recording of the info session. Each written comment must contain the following:
• Name, physical address, and email address of the person submitting the comments.
• Identification of the Program Interest (12200) and the facility name (Kearny Generating Station).
