All job vacancies are advertised in the Sunday, Star Ledger, Saturday, Jersey Journal, the Kearny Observer and various unemployment offices, local community colleges and Urban Leagues.

Kearny Urban Enterprise Zone (KUEZ) Coordinator



The Town of Kearny is seeking a highly organized and energetic individual to assume the position of Kearny Urban Enterprise Zone (KUEZ) Coordinator. The KUEZ office manages the day-to-day operations of programs that promote economic and community development. Working closely with the KUEZ Board, the Kearny governing body and the State of New Jersey, the KUEZ Coordinator needs to maximize resources, expand program activities and promote Kearny as a destination for living, working and investment.

Full Time Mechanic position available. Salary range $43,205 – 67,242. Three years exp. in maintenance and repair of various vehicles including trucks & equipment. Welding experience a plus. Valid NJ drivers license with CDL, class B, air brake end. required.

Tax Assessor

Seeking an individual to assume the full-time position of Tax Assessor to perform all duties and responsibilities as required by applicable statutes of the State of New Jersey and regulations of appropriate officials of the State of New Jersey and the County of Hudson. The Kearny Tax Assessor shall hold a tax assessor certificate provided for in P.L.1967, c.44 (C. 54:1-35.25 et seq.) and will ensure that all properties in the Town of Kearny are assessed for the purpose of real property taxation. The successful candidate shall attend Mayor and Council meetings and be proficient in the use of various related computer programs (MODIV, CAMA, etc.). The ideal candidate shall be team oriented, responsible, reliable and have a strong motivation to undertake challenging work. Salary shall be commensurate with experience. Building Inspector/Building Subcode Official

Full time/Part Time provisional position. Under direction of the Construction Official, is responsible for administering the Building Subcode within the jurisdiction in accordance with the State Uniform Construction Code (UCC). Responsibilities will include building plan review and inspection of all construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and the provisions of the UCC. Additional duties would include general code enforcement, property maintenance, zoning, and resale inspections as needed. Valid NJ driver’s license and HHS license required. Superintendent Of Public Works

The TOWN OF KEARNY is accepting applications for the full-time position of Superintendent of Public Works. The town is seeking an experienced professional with technical knowledge and strong leadership skills to effectively manage the Department of Public Works which consist of staff of 35. The position entails planning, supervising and directing all aspects of public works including, but not limited to: recycling center, roads, public buildings and grounds, parks, fleet maintenance, shade tree, snow removal, sanitary sewer system, and sidewalk permitting and inspection. Also includes contract administration for tree removals, landscaping and janitorial services. The successful candidate should have at least five years’ experience in a supervisory and administrative leadership capacity. Certification in Public Works Management (CPWM) is required along with a Class B CDL License. A Sewer Collection System Operator License (C3) is required or the ability to obtain within the required time. Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee

Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee receives and responds to telephone requests for emergency assistance, fire, medical or other emergency services, dispatches appropriate units to response sites and other related work as required.
