The Town of Kearny will only plant shade trees on municipally-owned street right-of-way or town-owned property. After receiving your request, a representative from the Department of Public Works will evaluate your requested location for suitability for tree planting.

While we aim to plant primarily native trees, we welcome input from residents and homeowners on the choice of species. The final selection will depend on availability as well as the necessity of sizing the tree to the location (considering constraints such as overhead wires, underground utilities, or narrow planting strips). New trees may require some care by the property owner (instructions will be provided). Thank you for beautifying our town and caring for the environment!
