In accordance with public health guidelines, the Annual Kearny Tree Lighting Festival will be held virtually this year on Thursday, December 3rd beginning at 7 p.m.
But don’t fret!! The family-focused virtual event has been especially designed to entertain and engage the kids. The approximately one-hour stream on the KUEZ Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/KearnyUrbanEnterpriseZone will be filled with performances, messages and other surprises for children as they watch Santa make his way through the streets of Kearny to Town Hall to light the tree.
PLUS, help Santa find his mischievous elf Candy Cane as he travels through Town. Let us know where you spot him on this Elf Finder Form for a chance to win a basket of holiday toys!
Interspersed on Santa’s pre-recorded journey will be performances, appearances and messages from past Festival participants including the Kearny Fire Department, Next Step School of Dance, Kearny Library, West Hudson Arts and Theater company (W.H.A.T.), and more!
The stream will culminate in Santa’s arrival at Town Hall to help Mayor Santos light the tree.
As a reminder there is NO live Holiday Concert, Festival in the Park or Tree Lighting this year. But you can grab some hot chocolate and enjoy the event from the warmth, comfort and safety of your home with your family and friends! You can also post pictures showing us your how you’re getting ready to watch with the hashtag #KearnyTree2020.
While we may be celebrating a little differently this year, we look forward to another amazing holiday season here in Kearny!
