Kearny, NJ – On March 13, 2017, during the Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Town Council, Mayor Alberto G. Santos and the Town Council were joined by members of the Junior Woman’s Club of Arlington as they presented Kearny Fire Chief Stephen Dyl with a $1,500 donation to purchase NARCAN Nasal Spray medication for use by the Kearny Fire Department when responding to emergencies involving opioid overdose. The funds were raised by the Junior Woman’s Club from the proceeds of their annual chili cook-off and donations from the community.
NARCAN Nasal Spray is the first FDA-approved nasal form of naloxone for the emergency treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose. NARCAN counteracts and reverses the life-threatening effects of opioid overdose. NARCAN helps save lives and, with encouragement and awareness-raising, can help more opioid abusers get into treatment and tackle the underlying problems that lead to addiction.
