Kearny, NJ – On August 3, 2021, Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Town Council Members Carol Jean Doyle, Susan McCurrie and Gerald Ficeto attended National Night Out Against Crime held on Belgrove Drive near Veterans Memorial Field. The annual community-building event, hosted by the Kearny Police Department’s Community Policing Unit (Officer Vanessa Sevillano), is a nationwide effort to strengthen the relationship between the community and law enforcement and prevention of crime and violence.
The event was a great success for the community where town officials, local businesses and residents enjoyed food, games, entertainment and demonstrations on ways to keep the community safer.
Residents had the opportunity to meet leaders and personnel from the Kearny Police Department and interact with neighbors, community members and local businesses, with a common goal of partnership and safety.
Many thanks to everyone who helped make National Night Out Against Crime a success including the Kearny Fire Department and Hudson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. Many civic and business organizations also participated in the event including the Kearny Municipal Alliance, Kearny Prevention Coalition, Kearny Bank, Provident Bank, Kearny Elks 1050, West Hudson Arts & Theater Company, and the Brain Injury Alliance of NJ.
