Kearny, NJ – On Thursday, October 27, 2022, the Town of Kearny held its 1st Annual Oktoberfest Concert at Veterans Memorial Field. Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Town Council Members joined the Recreation Commission and Department, and residents for a memorable evening which featured live music entertainment by the Cameos, food trucks by Latin Bites, Cousins Maine Lobster, and Waffles & Cones, and a selection of Oktoberfest beer was available at the VFW garden.
The Recreation Department distributed fall and winter program flyers with tote bags donated by the Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services and the Urban Enterprise Zone provided information on the Kearny Rewards Program available to businesses. During the event, the Kearny Health Department, Municipal Alliance, and Prevention Coalition offered residents Narcan kits and substance use prevention literature, and the ACT NOW Foundation shared resources on brain health education and memory loss. The Girl Scouts and FMBA also participated in the festivities.
Mayor Santos thanked Kearny Recreation, Lyla De Castro Lawdanski and Ralph Cattafi, Kearny DPW, the Cameos, and residents for sharing in the celebration.
