Kearny NJ-The Town of Kearny held its 29th annual clean-up commemorating Earth Day on Saturday April 23, 2022. Organized by Kearny ACES, numerous volunteers showed up at the park’s Frank A. Vincent Marina and Kearny Town Hall to help remove litter and debris from the banks of the Passaic River, Kearny Avenue and American Revolution Bicentennial (Town Hall) Park. Volunteers from Scout Troops, Pathways to Independence, West Hudson Arts & Theater Company, Arlington Juniors and Women’s Clubs, Valley Bank, Clean Earth, Pathways to Independence, Liberty Success Center, and students from Kearny High School and Lincoln Middle School joined local residents on a beautiful spring morning to participate in the annual clean-up. Special thanks to Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission River Restoration program, HCIA, Kearny Shop-Rite and Valley Bank for their support. Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Council Members Susan McCurrie, Albino Cardoso, Marytrine De Castro, Peter Santana, Eileen Eckel, Gerald Ficeto, the Kearny Fire Department, and the Department of Public Works joined in helping to make this year’s cleanup a successful event.
