Kearny, NJ – The Town of Kearny held its 27th annual River Cleanup at Riverbank Park in Kearny on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Organized by 3rd Ward Councilwoman Carol Jean Doyle and co-sponsored by the Passaic Valley River Restoration Group, numerous volunteers showed up at the park’s Frank A. Vincent Marina to help remove litter and debris from the banks of the Passaic River. Young and old alike joined the effort. Volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 305, Girl Scout Troop 10648 and 12503, and students from Kearny High School and Pathways to Independence joined many local residents on a beautiful spring morning to participate in the annual spring clean-up. Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Council Members Carol Jean Doyle, Albino Cardoso, Marytrine De Castro, Peter Santana, Susan McCurrie, Michael Landy, the Kearny Fire Department and Department of Public Works also helped make this year’s cleanup a successful event.
