SNOW STORM ADVISORY – February 1 and February 2, 2021
There is no Meals-on-Wheels distribution on Tuesday, February 2. The Meals-on-Wheels program is expected to be back in service on Wednesday, February 3.
There is no Senior Bus Service. Updates on when Senior Bus Service will resume will be posted when available.
The COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the high school has been rescheduled to Thursday, February 4, because of a delay in shipment of vaccine. All existing appointment times will be transferred to the new date. The location remains the high school. The clinic is by appointment only. All appointments are full.
Street Sweeping enforcement is suspended until further notice.
The storm prevented most curbside Garbage Pickup for Monday, February 1. There is no curbside Garbage Pickup on Tuesday, February 2. Cali Carting will resume garbage pickup on Wednesday, February 3, for those areas that Wednesday is the normal pickup day.
Residents are reminded that there is no parking on “snow emergency streets” in the Town of Kearny during snow storms and after snow storms while snow plowing operations are ongoing. Cars parked on “snow emergency streets” are subject to being TOWED at the owner’s expense. The “snow emergency streets” are as follows:
· Kearny Avenue – entire length
· Bergen Avenue – from Passaic Ave to the DPW Facility
· Davis Ave – from Midland Ave to Dukes Street
· Elm St – from Midland Ave to the Belleville Turnpike
· Belgrove Drive – from Passaic Ave to Locust Ave
· Midland Ave – from Belgrove Drive to Schuyler Ave
· Afton Street – from Belgrove Drive to Passaic Ave
Please observe the following:
Do NOT shovel or blow snow from your sidewalk or driveway onto the street.
In the interest of public safety, please dig out any fire hydrant in front of your property. Do not bury it with shoveled snow.
Do NOT place garbage cans, cones or any other object in the street to save a parking space. Obstructions in the street such as these are illegal.
Contact the DPW (201) 998-3700, to report any serious safety concerns such as icy streets, large potholes or snow mounds that restrict sight lines at intersections.
Remove snow from your sidewalk within 12 hours of daylight after a snowstorm.
