Town of Kearny Celebrates Return of United Irish Associations of West Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Kearny, NJ – On Sunday, March 13, 2022, Irish eyes were smiling at the 47th Annual West Hudson St. Patrick’s Day parade which returned after the 2020 and 2021 parades were cancelled due to the pandemic. Thousands of people lined Kearny Avenue to enjoy the parade after two years of virtual celebrations. The parade is a West Hudson tradition celebrating Irish heritage. Organized annually by the United Irish Associations of West Hudson, the parade begins at Harrison Town Hall, continues through East Newark, and ends at Kearny Town Hall.
Congratulations to the Parade Grand Marshal Patrick O’Donnell, Deputy Grand Marshals John Dunphy and Anthony Coleman, and Distinguished Friend honoree Mayor Alberto G. Santos. This year’s parade featured over 50 groups and 1,000 marchers and included local High School and Junior High School Marching Bands, Pipe Bands, and floats from several local groups and service organizations. Mayor Santos and the Town Council extend sincere thanks to the United Irish Associations of West Hudson and all participants and spectators for making this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration a great success. It was a great day to be Irish!
