Mayor Alberto G. Santos and the Town Council recently announced that the Town’s roadway repaving project is slated to resume this month. Originally scheduled for 2020, the project was suspended due to the pandemic’s impact on the contractor’s ability to field work crews.
The project includes various streets throughout Town and will be kickstarted with the heavily trafficked portion of Bergen Avenue that connects to Harrison Avenue. That portion of Bergen Avenue will be milled later this week and repaved this weekend, weather permitting. The contractor will then move through the roadways listed below, first completing concrete work for ADA accessible crossings at intersections, then milling and repaving. All streets will be completed by mid-May except for Highland Avenue which will be completed in June due to utility work and settlement of trenches.
All residents on the affected blocks will receive hand-delivered notices 48 hours in advance of work commencing on their street, along with no parking signs also being posted 48 hours in advance. The roadways are as follows:
- Bergen Avenue (Overpass to Cummins Road)
- Rose Street (Highland Avenue to Kearny Avenue)
- Beech Street (Seeley Avenue to Stuyvesant Avenue)
- Franklin Place (Entire Length)
- Lafayette Place (Entire Length)
